Luis Ocampo Giraldo GEM Fellow and PhD Student (Nuclear Engineering), Penn State
Luis Ocampo is currently a Ph.D. Candidate in Nuclear Engineering at Pennsylvania State University. He is a GEM Fellow supported by the Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL). He received his B.S. (2008) and M.S. (2015) degrees in Nuclear Engineering at Penn State. His current research in radiation detection involves a project focused on the development, enhancement and testing of cadmium zinc telluride detectors. Most recently, Luis was awarded at the GEM National Conference Technical Presentation Competition for his work completed at BNL this past summer. His other research interests include national nuclear security and nonproliferation. Luis is the co-founder and president of the Multicultural Engineering Graduate Association at Penn State, which focuses on the recruitment and retention of underrepresented domestic graduate students in STEM.
